Another way of putting this is what was God’s real purpose for redemption?
We are all familiar with the story of the creation of the earth and the creation of man. Yes, we studied this in our bible study as children or heard it from many popular teachings around us.
“So, God created man in his own image, in the image of God He created them, both male and female He created them” (Matthew 1:27).
I used a picture of a potter because we are God’s own Handiwork; his Workmanship. (Ephesians 2:10)
In Genesis, we see the beautiful, intimate, loving, peaceful relationship God had with the first man, Adam and Eve. The scriptures recorded that in the cool of the day, God walked in the garden to meet them (Genesis 3:8). What a relationship, what closeness, what freedom the first men enjoyed with God in the Garden of Eden.
Now, fast-forward to after the fall of man (when the first man disobeyed God by eating of the tree of life and death) they fell into the devil’s trap. This sweet, loving, peaceful, close relationship with God was broken. God’s favourite creation was separated from him.
So, throughout the Old Testament, God has always longed for a way to reconcile and draw man to himself, but whenever he did, people died. The Old Covenant was a fatal flaw, it required people to keep their distance because of God’s holiness. If they disobeyed or rebelled against God, they would die.
On one of those occasions, the people told Moses they would die if they came close to God, so they asked Moses to draw near to God on their behalf. (Deuteronomy 5: 25-27). In verse 28 of Deuteronomy 5, God agreed with their request “They are right in all that they have Spoken.”
So, God kept his distance. Their distancing from God however caused them to deteriorate further into sin.
God was aware of this problem. You’ll agree this was a pretty bad situation. The only solution to this seemingly hopeless situation was the cross of JESUS CHRIST. This is the reason he died, that through His blood, sinful man can gain access to the immediate presence of a Holy God and go under a glory that will change him.
Man can now come boldly to the throne of grace, obtain mercy, and find grace to help him in time of need (Hebrews 4:16). What a privilege!
Glory to God, that relationship was re-established through Christ’s death on the cross. As we surrender to His glory, we are transformed into the same image and likeness of Christ. Despite, all our weaknesses and failure, we can now come into God’s most Holy presence. Christ is the template of who he wants man to become, a son!
What does this relationship with God; our Father entail?
God wants us to come into a secure place where a father can relate with his son,
A place where the son can commune with his father, listen to his father’s instructions, and execute them.
A place where the son is free to express and exercise himself and become who he was purposed to be.
A place where He heals him from pain and restores him again and this time around better than he ever was.
A place where he could draw daily strength to face and overcome life’s challenges.
And this is for Anyone who decides to come and accept the gift of his Precious Son, Jesus. There is no weight of sin that His blood cannot handle.
What a joy to behold! This is sincere and genuine freedom from sin and the devil!
Give God the space to live and breathe in you. Just come and breathe him. Come and experience life on His terms and the peace He brings. An unbelievable inheritance awaits you in Christ (Ephesians 1:11-17).
So, what are you waiting for to hop on this train, to come into this family? All you have to do is believe that Jesus died to save you from sin, confess with your mouth and you are saved.
If you have the slightest desire to meet Jesus Christ and make Him Lord over your life, say this prayer aloud;
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for sending your Son, Jesus to atone for my sins, by shedding His blood through death on the cross. Today, I receive and confess Jesus as my personal, Lord and Saviour. I receive forgiveness and the gift of righteousness by my faith in Him. Thank You Father as I can now declare that I am born again in the name of Jesus. Amen!
You’re welcome to the family of God.

Thus far, I believe we’ve been able to understand why Jesus really died. I will stop here for now. Consecutively, we will be exploring many other facets of this New Life, what position God really wants us to occupy, and how to live in Him and become the best we could ever think of.
I’m sure you’re as excited as I am for the next episodes.
Thank you for reading to this point, Cheers!
This piece of writing was also inspired by the book Secrets of the Secret Place by Bob Sorge. What a life-transforming book.
Gentle reminder of how much he loves us. We can never fathom how close he is to us even in time of distress, times where we seem far off from his presence. Thanks for the wonderful piece 🙏
The Good News is that God loved us first before we were even born, and the proof is the life of our savior Jesus Christ, who came to free us from the bondage of sin.
Thank you for this amazing write-up! 🙌
