The Bible is the raw, direct, unrefined “Word of God” to us. Believe it!
The Bible was written by divine inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
In John 1:1, “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God”. The Word in this context is Jesus Christ who also is God, the Living Word of God.
The Word of God is living and active, sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; It judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. (Hebrew 4: 12).
Through this one book the Bible, God has given us everything we need to know about Him, His Son Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, the basics of our salvation through His Son Jesus, the things that he wants us doing, those he doesn’t want us doing and how He wants us to live this life.
Again, the Bible shows all the ways and commandments of our Lord. The Bible tells us about what awaits us after this life on earth. That is, what happens after we die and crossover to the other side- Heaven for the saved and hell for the unsaved.
In Matthew 13, when Jesus taught about the parable of The Sower, He likened the Word of God to a seed meaning it’s alive. One thing that caught my attention in this chapter was the fact that this Word of God has been sent out but not everyone who hears it will accept or even understand it.
Four categories of people were described in this chapter:
The First category of people are the ones who hear about the kingdom and don’t understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their hearts. This is the seed sown along the path.
The Second category of people are those who hear the Word and at once receive it with Joy. But since they have no roots, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the Word, they quickly fall away. Jesus mentions that the seed fell on rocky places.
The third category of people He spoke about are those whose seed fell among the thorns. This refers to those who hear the Word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the Word, making it unfruitful.
The Last and most interesting category of people is those whose seed fell on good soil. These ones hear the Word and understand it. They produce crops, yielding a hundred, sixty, or thirty times what was sown.”
Which among these four categories of people do you fall under?
God’s ultimate wish is “I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth” (3 John 2).
Your soul can only prosper when it is fed with the Word of God that is capable of transforming you.
All you need is the Word, and it’s all packed in that Bible you’re holding. Spend time reading God’s Word. Always ask Him to speak to you through it. Study the Scriptures as though you were searching for something. “For everyone who seeks finds” (Matthew 7:8).
Decide today to spend time studying the Word of God and you will discover that His Word, is real, true, alive, active, and works.
If you have the slightest desire to meet Jesus Christ and make Him Lord over your life, say this prayer aloud;
Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for sending your Son, Jesus to atone for my sins, by shedding His blood through death on the cross. Today, I receive and confess Jesus as my personal, Lord and Saviour. I receive forgiveness and the gift of righteousness by my faith in Him. Thank You Father as I can now declare that I am born again in the name of Jesus. Amen!
You’re welcome to the family of God.
